French Coast to Canal du Midi

We continued our walk around the castle buildings and garden then back down to the lower town where we had a look inside the convent (bottom right). The nuns from the Order of the Ursulines lived here in the 1660s teaching the Roman Catholic faith to young protestant girls. This continued until the French revolution when it became the property of the state. It went through various changes as it became a school again, a hospital during WW11 and then an orphanage and school again. It is now a cultural centre for the town.
